Today I feel good

And since I post so much here when I'm not feeling so great about things, I have to give Good its due.

The nurse from our health insurance called today to follow up with me about how I'm doing (recall that she called a little over a month ago and because she was concerned that I was experiencing depression, referred me to my PCP - whom I never did see because it didn't seem like what I needed). I told her in all honesty that I'm doing really well, and that felt good.

I don't know if I've turned a corner. I think as a parent, there are more corners that we are faced with than we can ever count . . . so, yeah, maybe I've turned a corner, but there will certainly be many more. All I know is that today, I feel on pretty steady ground. I don't feel the despair I felt not all that long ago. I look at my life and feel grateful. Grateful for a husband who sees past my craziness and makes me laugh even in the darkest of times. Grateful for each of my kids, all of whom drive me to the brink of insanity almost daily, but who also teach me more about myself and life than I could ever hope to learn elsewhere. Grateful for Finn, who just happens to have Down syndrome, and who has shown me for the seventh time in my life (after Michael and my first 5 kids) what true love is all about.
