Finn is 5 months old today!
All about Finn:
He weighs just over 12 pounds now. He's still a grump a lot of the time. Michael thinks he's the crabbiest of our kids as babies, but I disagree - he's nowhere near as crabby as Joey was. Finn will entertain himself under his play gym for periods of time, but when he's done, he's done. I put him in this getup just for the photos; in truth, he spends 95% of his time in jammies. It's just easier :/ He's still exclusively breast fed, something I take some pride in. He's a good sleeper. I can't believe this kid sleeps through the night (most nights, anyway) without our having had to do any sort of "sleep training." Here's something funny: for naps during the day, he must be swaddled up tight (still), and he will only nap in his vibrating bouncy seat or his swing. However, at night, he happily sleeps in his bassinet without being swaddled - just wearing jammies and a Sleep Sack. I've tried having him nap that way and he won't have any part of it. What gives? Anyway, I can put him in his bassinet in the evening wide awake, and he will usually just babble himself to sleep. Oh my god, the nightmare memories I have of trying to get our other kids to sleep at night! I am very thankful that Finn is such a good sleeper.
Developmentally, there's really not a whole lot of new going on. He still rolls from tummy to back with ease, but not from back to tummy. He lifts and holds his head well, but he's not yet extending and bearing weight on his arms when on his tummy. When I put him in his Bumbo, he holds his head up pretty well for a few minutes but quickly tires and slumps over. He grabs and holds onto toys. He will bear some weight on his legs.
Bottom line, though - I love him to pieces.

Awwww... Look at that doll baby! *kisses*
Happy 5 months! He's adorable and those are the cutest lil feet ever!
You are doing an awesome job, Lisa. Congrats on the BFing milestone.
Hey little buddy, you are so cute. I love your blue eyes and that outfit makes you look like a cool dude.
Yeah! Happy 5 months Big Guy!!
Sounds like he is doing so well, Lisa!
It's so funny what you said about his sleeping patterns - D is the SAME way! He sleeps best in his swing during the day (even with Cass yelling about in the back ground) but at night, I put him in the bassinet next to our bed and he falls asleep as happy as can be!!
Happy 5mths Finn!!!
What a handsome little man Lisa. Totally cute in those photos.
wow...he's gorgeous! (can i say that about a boy?)...he is though!
happy 5 months! I can't believe our babies are in that age range already! where does it go?
and i too, like you and laurie, have odd daytime nap issues...she'll only nap in my arms, but at night, she sleeps from 9-5 in her crib - in her OWN room...
babies are so funny :)
Taylor was looking at Finn's pictures with me and says "Oh my gosh he is sooooooooooo cute! his eyes are awesome" By the way she was very impressed by Kevin's ISA report. She came home and told me about it. She volunteers at a church program that works with autisitc kids. They have a new 6 yr old with ds she thinks he is the cutest.
That is one gorgeous boy. Happy 5 months Finn! Love your little feet and big blue eyes.
Funny, Tess is similar in the sleep dept. She is the firt of our 5 to sleep through the night, in her CRIB!, without any sleep training. She doesn't nap well though. Go figure.
He's doing great.
With my first two, I felt like I had to get them dressed all the time. With the third, he STILL spends a good portion of his time in his PJs. You're right, it's just easier. And, it's less laundry!
Glad to hear that my kid with DS is not the only one busting those "they're always so happy" stereotypes. He's definitely my crabbiest kid. :)
Finn is seriously the cutest, though. Those eyes!
Man! What a doll. His eyes are amazing! And he looks so big in that first pic! :)
Makes me miss him (them). He is starting to look a lot more like Michael. Dont you think?
See you soon. Not soon enough but soon. If you want to do a week date before then let me know.
XOXO.
What a cutie! Can't believe how fast time has flown - five months already!?
Happy 5 monthiversary, Finn!
How great it is to have a "blog" to express your love and wonder and also your concerns about being the Mother of a Special Needs child. I wish the Internet had been around when my son was born with cerebral palsy. It is indeed a whole different experience in Motherhood. I am a better Mother, Wife, Sister and Friend because of my son's challenges. It has been the greatest blessing in my life, hands down. Keep blogging & hang in there!
oh my goodness could he be any cuter?! Seriously! He's gorgeous! Happy 5 months Finn!
