No Sleep. Again.

I can't remember the last time I had a decent night's sleep. This entire week has been horrible. Last night, like just about every other night this week, Finn went down at his usual time in his bassinet, but woke a couple hours later (right around the time I'm going to bed) and that was pretty much it for the night. For the rest of the night he Just. Would. Not. Sleep. He is restless and fussy and whiny. It's not even that he wants to nurse - he doesn't. I can't figure out what he wants/needs. I try having him lie down in bed with me. He fusses and cries. I try sitting up with him. That only works for a short time. And I must be patting his back. If I begin to doze off and therefore stop patting, the crying starts back up. I try swaddling him and putting him in his swing. Nope. I know he doesn't feel well. I've given him Tylenol (about the only thing I can give him). I use saline drops in his nose to help with the congestion. We have a humidifier going. Doesn't matter. The kid won't sleep. I am losing my mind. He naps okay during the day (sort of), but it's not even like I can catch up on some sleep then because you don't think the other kids are actually going to let me lie down, do you? I don't know how much more of this I can take.

Ugh, those nights are awful...not to mention actually trying to function the next day. {hugs} Hope you and Finn get some rest soon.

I'm guessing he has an ear infection. That is the only reason my kids are fussy in the night without anything else helping. If he's like Morgan though...no one can really get a good view of his eardrums and just have to guess that it's an ear infection. Good luck!

The sleeplessness always gets to me. I understand why they use sleep deprivation as a tool to torture. After about 2-3 nights of it, I'm ready to confess to just about anything to get to sleep. Unfortunately, neither of my kids ever accepted my confessions and allowed me to sleep. Good luck!
