Braggin' on my boy

Check this out from this morning:

I actually took a few videos, but this one (not the best one) was the only one I could get to upload here :( Anyhow, look at him go! He's also very close to being able to go from all fours to a sitting position.

I've been watching him closely to see what differences I notice since he got the tubes placed in his ears. It's funny because when we put him on Zantac for reflux, people were telling me "Just wait, the difference will be like night and day!" The reality? Not so much. Honestly, I'm not even sure he actually has reflux. I mean, he was always a spit-uppy baby, but the Zantac has NOT made a world of difference in his sleep habits, temperament, or anything else. It was the same thing with the tubes: "Oh, it'll make such a difference for him!" Well, maybe . . . I'm still waiting. He is snorting less (even his PT noticed that this morning), which I assume is due to less congestion, he does seem to be responding to the cacaphony around him a bit more (not drastically, though), and he does seem to be babbling a bit more than before. The first night after he got the tubes, he only woke up once during the night, which is a big change for Mr. Wakeful, and at first I was like "Hallelujah, the tubes are helping him sleep better!" But last night it was back to his usual routine of repeted waking, so I don't know. Anyhow, if it minimizes ear infections and helps with his hearing and speech, those are the most important things.

Go Finn Go! I have been waiting for the miracle ear tubes to help with Donovan's speech but not much progress yet :(. We were not big fans of Zantac either but had much better success with Prevacid. Just an idea.

Hey! Look at him go!!! woo-hoo!

We like the Prevacid as well. And just as a thought...what about sleep apnea? Very common in kids with DS. We didn't think G had it and it turns out she does--this would cause wakefulness and grumpiness. I don't know how soon people do sleep studies, and I know you don't have tons of time on your hands...but a thought?

Lauren was on Zantac for a year, and it didn;t do anything for her eating or sleeping, until she got off of it. Then we noticed she barely eats or drinks anything and is always tired. But she also is having heart surgery on the 25th due to an enlarged heart (from the hole she has), so the heart might be causing these symptoms for her.

Way to go Finn!!!

Go Finn!

I kept hearing the same thing from so many people before Kayla got her first set of tubes - how they noticed a complete difference in their child afterwards...and I also kept waiting to see a difference in Kayla and I never did! LOL

Wow, fantastic! What we've noticed with Kayli is that she is now incredibly healthy, colds last a couple of days instead of weeks. We did notice a change in her speech too. It might be too early to tell! Glad he made it through just fine!
