Baby Steps

One of the most trying challenges we've faced with Finn is feeding. It has been a long, slow road getting this boy to eat anything other than purees. But look at this:

That there's what you call self-feeding :) Just a couple weeks ago, anything I put on his tray would be flung to the floor in short order. And anything with any texture would have been gagged on and more often than not, hacked up. And he does still gag, but it's getting better. And he's feeding himself! This is big, folks. Progress.

He is so sweet- he looks so thoughtful as he is eating :) As for the food throwing, if it were an Olympic sport, my Luke would be right up there on the podium with Finnian!

Are those veggie straws? That's how we got Lucas to start eating table foods! Way to go Finnian!

Go Finnian! E is at about the same place with feeding except that he will not keep anything in his mouth - pushes it all right back out with the tongue (his OT calls it his "eject button").

I always try to take a deep breath and remember all of the older kids I see ever year at our local Ds picnic - who can all feed themselves solid foods and swallow them. Some day it will be our turn! Keep up the good work!!

oh I LOVE his little cheer at the end. Looks like he's eating those Veggie Sticks that John Michael adores. Great way to start eating, Finn. Keep it up!
