Last night we got the first good news - two things actually:
- Finn had his very first poop at about 8:00 p.m.!!! WOO HOOO!!! I was so happy I cried. This means that the surgery was successful and his bowels are beginning to function. Who knew that poop could bring such happiness??
- A second echocardiogram was performed yesterday and it showed that the hole in his heart is already closed, and his heart appears to be developing normally!! This is excellent, excellent news. I am hopeful that it means that he won't suffer the heart issues typically associated with DS.
I am seeing now suddenly how it will be these small things that will bring us hope.

Yay for poop!! Lisa, Down's or not, he is gorgous, I just want to pinch his little cheeks! It maybe be a bumpy ride, but we're right here to help in any way possible! Mega Hugs ~Kristina~
Oh Lisa! That is fantastic news!!!
Yay for poop and a healthy heart! I am sure that both are a huge load off your mind.
YAY Finn! Who'd have thought poop would be so momentous? Thanks for the separate blog for this, now I have TWO to check each day for updates :)
Much love to you and the family, as always!
Hi Lisa,
Finn is gorgeous! I'm glad to hear his intestines are working properly, it's amazing how much joy we parents take in the first BM from our babies. I've been thinking a lot about you and your family. I look forward to seeing you with little Finn in your arms.
Much love,
Laura
