I took Finn to our regular pediatrician this morning and he's pretty sure he has RSV. He didn't do a swab, but said Finn's symptoms match up, and like the urgent care doc said, it's going around. He said that if Finn does have RSV, it's the mildest case he's seen this season. It's viral, so there's really no treatment for it. He said we can get the Albuterol Rx from the urgent care doc filled if we want, but it only treats the symptoms, and he said that Finn's case really appears to be mild so as long as he's breathing okay and sleeping okay and staying hydrated, filling the Rx is up to us. I'm going to hold off for now because I'm just not crazy about giving him meds that aren't completely necessary and which may have some unpleasant side effects. He goes back to the ped on Thursday for his 6-month well check anyway, so we'll just see how he's doing then.
I feel much better now that our regular doc has seen him. Thank you, everyone, for your well wishes!

Poor little guy!! I really hope he gets well asap. Sending healthy vibes across the country...
((Hugs))
Poor little man! Get well soon, Finn!
I'm glad you feel better about getting him checked again. When Charlie was 3 months old, I took him to urgent care, which his regular doctor was attending that day. She told me it was nothing serious, he's just teething. Mommy instincts said...nope, there's something more to it. So, I took him back the next day and the doc sent us straight to the er where he was admitted for 3 days!
Not to discredit the doctors, but sometimes I think Mommy's know a lot more than the doctors when it comes to the well being of our babies.
Sounds like you need a night off! : ) I am home this weekend missing the babies like crazy! So... If you want to go out just let me know!
Hope Finn and the other kids are feeling better soon!
I hope he feels better soon. I wanted to comment on the albuterol. It can increase heart rate and sometimes isnt good for babies with CHD.
Sorry to hear that Finn has the RSV but glad to hear that it is mild. It is definitely RSV season here. I think that Ds kids are a little more prone to contracting this due to the low muscle tone. Not real sure of the immune system being compromised but I do know that they sometimes have a more difficult time fighting away the bugs. Hope that he gets to feeling better soon.
Get well little Finn! Big hugs!
yes, get well mr. man. me & sydney hope you feel better soon!
I hope he feels better soon! My youngest had RSV when she was about 8 months old (she was considered a preemie since she was born at 37 weeks and under 6 lbs at birth). It was hard listening to her cough, it sounded so painful. We did use the albuteral for her, and it really did help her breathe.
RSV in our house also. Hope he is feeling better soon.
