Thank you, Heather . . . or, What Kind of Mother Am I?

I'm guessing he has an ear infection. That is the only reason my kids are fussy in the night without anything else helping. If he's like Morgan though...no one can really get a good view of his eardrums and just have to guess that it's an ear infection. Good luck!

I can't believe that it never even occurred to me that he might have an EI. It's not like I don't have puhlenty of experience with EIs! It makes total sense. He's been congested, has even had a fever on and off for the last couple of days, and now he won't nurse on one side, which tells me that laying on that side causes him discomfort.

Of course the ped's office is completely booked, so I have to take him to Urgent Care this evening, after hours. Ugh. Still, I hope this is the answer. Will update later . . .

Oh, Lisa, please don't give yourself a hard time. I remember when Claire was an infant and I couldn't figure out why Claire was so fussy...and then I noticed blood in her mouth and she was cutting a tooth! I hope that Urgent Care was/is quick and that Finn is feeling better soon!

That's funny because I was just about to say the same thing when I got to this post! DOn't be hard on yourself! So many times I am exhausted and cranky and then I realize my poor child has been suffering and I've been grouchy. Ear infections are the big one I learned when they won't nurse and lying down is cranky time.Good luck and try to get some rest. You are a very good mother! Repeat that....

Lisa, don't be too hard on yourself...I JUST took Sydney to a routine Ear check for hearing and they told me that she had a minor EI. She has been on and off sick lately and fussy with teeth, so it never occurred to me either that her ears might be bugging her. She never tugs on them.

So glad I was able to help! It seriously made my night to open up your blog and see my name on it! :) Hopefully he'll be feeling better really soon and be back to sleeping through the night again!
