Finn

The nebulizer was delivered to our front door this morning - pretty convenient, eh? I had hoped to get it yesterday, but I guess our insurance company had to authorize it which didn't happen until the end of business yesterday. (Our insurance co. paid for 100% of it, which surprised me for some reason; I kept thinking, "Wow, I can't believe they're giving us this expensive piece of medical equipment to use at our discretion!" I figured it would be along the same price as a hospital grade breast pump, which our insurance would NOT cover [boo!], but I looked the nebulizer up online and saw that it only costs about 50 bucks.) So I put Finn to bed last night with Motrin and a dose of the albuterol syrup we have, and he actually had a pretty good night, only waking twice.
He's still not feeling well and on top of his cough, he's spitting up quite a bit, so I don't know if he has a tummy bug or if the coughing just leads to vomiting. In any event, I've kept up with feeding him solids to keep him in the habit. As long as he's willing, I figure we should keep it up. It's continuing to go pretty well.

We did a breathing treatment this afternoon and I'll do another one before he goes to bed tonight. I know this only treats the symptoms. I hope he kicks whatever bug he has soon. When we were at the ped yesterday, the NP did not prescribe another round of antibiotics, so I don't know what to think about that. Maybe this is viral?

Sweet little guy -- hope he feels better soon! He looks like he's a trooper with this contraption. When my older daughter needed a nebulizer as a baby, they didn't have cute designs on them :-)

He's so cute! We have a purple dinosaur... or maybe it's a dragon... on our mask. I hope he feels better soon!

We had to attempt breathing treatments with Zach when he was about 4 months old. Turned out the treatments did nothing for him because he was on the verge of having RSV. It was a scary time. The thing that helped was a steamy humidifier (not cool mist). My mom came to help us out after our 2nd 2 a.m. trip to the ER and we basically set up one bedroom as a steam room and the adults took turns hanging out with the baby in that humidified, mentholated room. Did that for about 2 days before it finally broke and he started to get better.

Hang in there...

And that pic, while a little sad, is TOO CUTE!

Just a note, since you said you had been prescribed albuterol syrup.... If you find that the neb treatments are making Finn antsy, ask the doc about Xopenex instead. Same effect with wayyyyy less hyping up than albuterol. Good luck!!

Poor baby. Hoping Finn is feeling better soon. He's just as adorable in that mask though.

Btw, I passed an award over to you because I think you're an awesome Mama.
