So Finn has been doing this thing with his tongue, kind of chewing on the end of it a lot. Also, he's been crabby on and off. And chewing on his hands. Oh, and he's had a bit of a runny nose.
Never occurred to me that he might be cutting teeth. Well, that's not true, actually. It has occurred to me, and I've been doing quite a bit of checking, running my little finger along his gumlines, but I haven't felt a thing. And since I've heard that babies with Ds often get their teeth in later - sometimes much later - than their typical peers, I figured it just isn't his time yet (all my other babes cut their first teeth by 6 - 7 months).
Well, lookie here: clearly a tooth! Eun, his PT, pointed it out to me this morning. Apparently I just haven't been feeling around in just the right place. The one next to it looks close behind.

Perhaps one of the cutest pictures I've seen, though I'm not sure why. :) Are you going to continue BFing Finn once he gets more teeth?
Yes, absolutely I will continue nursing him! I've nursed all my babies long past the time they had a mouth full of teeth :)
And since Finn's my last baby, I'll probably nurse him until he's in junior high ;)
LOL @ Jr. high.
Cute little toofer!
hmmm...now you've got me wanting to perform a thourough dental examination on gabby. She has been chewing on her tongue quite a bit lately...not to mention the random bouts of crying out in the middle of the night.
Thanks for the inspiration ;)
That is a tooth al right! Way to go Finn!
yay for a tooth! cool, Finn! and wtg on nursing for so long. i'm very jealous!
Luke got his first tooth at around 14 or 15 months, and now has 3!(Now 16 months) I am still feeding him once a day, but he bit me the other day. Man his teeth are sharp- he could be part shark! They are really pointy. Hope he doesn't do it again LOL
Nice tooth :-) John Michael starting cutting his teeth while nursing (around 11 months old). After too much chomping and piercing screams, I had to cut him off. I hope so much that Finn is a gentle teether and doesn't put a hole in you like JM did to me! He transitioned straight to whole milk since he refused formula. The cup and straw were both a challenge at first, but he eventually got it. The speech therapist told me to keep away from the bottle at that point. Good luck!
woo hoo for the tooth!
I also wasn't expecting Kai to get teeth until after a year, but he also surprised me!
Aww!! Im pretty sure that Dylan is currently getting those same teeth! He wont let me get that clost to his mouth with my fingers, tho!!
My guys' teeth came in willy nilly and in their own time (though they kept pace with eachother being identical twins). Just another case of kids with DS doing things their own way in their own time. They've each got 18 out of twenty now (4yoa). Both missing those 2 bottom teeth, don't know what you call them but they sit opposite the eye teeth on top.
