Look what Finn's up to . . .

Seems like he's on his way to . . . something.

He actually did this a few times a while back, but as part of his moratorium on bearing weight on his legs, he gave this up too. But suddenly tonight, he was getting into this position repeatedly.

Hmmm.

Something that has really struck me lately is that having Finn is giving me the opportunity to watch someone bloom in slow motion. It really has given me a deep sense of appreciation for so many things I took for granted with my other kids.

Hehe! So cute. Luke stood up for the first time on Friday, and he did it from that position (he crawls like a spider too) so maybe Finn will do the same?

I know what you mean about appreciating the small things- we notice every little new thing he learns to do. So neat.

Love it! It's funny... Sheridan is our first and only so his "delays" aren't really an everyday focus for us. They become more obvious when we're around typically-developing children his age, but we LOOOOOOOVE the slow motion. It's all we know, so it doesn't feel that slow :) And I feel like I get to enjoy my son's infancy/toddlerhood in a way other parents don't get to enjoy it with their children. Yet another bonus of that extra chromosome! :)

What a perfect "Downward-facing Dog"! Finn the Yoga master is SO cute.

What you said about watching in slow motion sounds like an experience I had when I was working with a young woman who was "moderately developmentally disabled." She made shopping decisions, wrote checks, took buses, chose TV programs, made friends ... most of the things other people did.

But she did the mental part of each process so slowly that one could see the individual steps: Is this the grocery store I want to shop at today? Do I have enough money? Do I need a big cart or just a little basket? Is this the yogurt aisle? Is this container yogurt or sour cream? the flavor I want?

Finn is such a beautiful little boy; it's such a pleasure to watch you blog about him. Thanks for sharing him with us.

That's awesome! That "downward dog" position was one that my boys and other twins that I know were doing, too, at one point! It's cute! Finn's doing great and progessing well on his own little schedule..:)

Oh forgot something, Lisa-- I remember the boys doing this position right around true crawling time and when one of them starting to walk...so maybe it's a sign from Finn?

I like that -- watching him bloom in slo mo. That's a great way to put it. I guess we get to savor those milestones and stages a little longer than our typical kids.

I am going to yoga class today for the first time in over a year. I can only hope to have such good form. Finn will be my inspiration if I get discouraged!
