A good day

Today was a good day. Finnian seemed much more content than he did yesterday, and that made things a bit easier. He is nursing so well now, it's hard to imagine that just a week ago I was afraid I'd never get him to nurse. He's nursing like any healthy newborn at this point, although we still struggle a bit with the lying in bed nursings and I usually end up sitting up with him a couple time during the night to feed him, but what a small price to pay. I'm glad I stuck with it . . . having never struggled to breastfeed any of my other babies, I can see now how easy it would have been to throw in the towel with Finn.

The boys were invited to go spend the afternoon swimming at my friend, Lisa B.'s house and from what I hear, they had a great time (they're still talking about it). Nancy came over this afternoon and looked after the girls. Sue came over and weighed Finn (he's up to 6 lbs. 4 1/2 oz. on her scale, so + 1 oz. from 2 days ago), and then the three of us, Sue, Finn and I, went to lunch. Sue has promised to be a part of our lives for a long time to come, which is a good thing because I was already thinking I might have to get pregnant again to keep her coming around (just kidding!). But seriously, at the risk of getting all sappy, I have to say that she's become such a fixture in our lives and I've been bracing myself lately every time she comes over for it to be the last time. So, Sue, I am going to hold you to your word. You're not just my midwife now, you're my friend. (Can any of you imagine saying this to your OB??)

Right now, at this moment, I feel very content and fortunate. I am surrounded by caring friends, a devoted husband, great kids, and my baby is home and thriving. There is nothing else I need or want.

So good to hear! You sound much more upbeat!! I had a hard time 'learning' how to get my girls to nurse laying down for a long time. I actually think they were both 3-4 months old before we figured it out. Never understood why...Hoping you, Finn and the family have a great weekend!

I hope your good days begin to outweight your bad days ((Hugs))

I have just started to read your journal and I am so glad that you are having a better day. I am not sure you see it, but you are an amazing woman.

And Sara Rose was not able to nurse laying down until she was about a year old.
